| MEMBERS: | How To Keep Web Development Costs Low
Most web development projects include one or more of the following elements...
Each of these elements has to work in its own right, and in cooperation with the other elements. The more complex the project, the harder it is to bring it all together and make it work correctly. How to keep the cost down Here's how you can make sure your web development costs don't run over budget...
The key to achieving the second of these two items lies with the first. You should insist that an Agreement document be created, and sit in on the process. You need both end-users and developers in the same room, working through each aspect of the development. The end result must be a document that fully describes the development, is clear (unambiguous), and easily understood by both users and programmers. Every minute you invest creating this document greatly increases your chance of bringing the project in on budget. Why it's worth it Many of the problems that usually cause headaches during a complex development could have been discovered in advance, if an Agreement document had been created. When users and programmers get together and discuss their respective needs thoroughly, the resulting development is far more likely to go smoothly. This kind of interaction forces both users and programmers to think through what's actually required to make the system work. The ongoing interaction reduces the risk that person A assumes person B knows what they're talking about. Users are committing to a specific set of functions for an agreed price. The developer is committing to develop those functions for an agreed price. This means both users and developers have a self-interest in being thorough. Should a user change his/her mind about something after the Agreement document is signed, the cost of development must be renegotiated. This punishes the user for failing to think things through. Should the developer discover he/she hasn't fully understood what's required to complete some aspect of the project, he/she can't ask for more money. This punishes the developer for failing to break down each stage of the development and understand what's involved in completing it. Assuming you do your part, you won't need to make changes after the work has started. As a result, you'll bring the project in on budget even if the developer hasn't done his/her job properly.
Personal Websites and Business
Personal websites and business may not go hand-in-hand as far as you are concerned, but I urge you to think again. If you want to sell something, you may need to "sell yourself" first. People enjoy doing business with someone they know and like. More importantly, they want to know that they can trust you. We are actually able to transact business all over the world due to today's technology. The problem with that can be a lack of personal service. However, with the internet, and especially with personal websites, we can feel as if we know someone that we have never actually met. We can know what a person looks like, we can know the sound of their voice, we can know all about their family, hobbies, dreams, future goals, etc. When someone is surfing the web looking for a way to work from home, they are also looking for someone to partner with. Someone to mentor them and show them the way. They want to feel comfortable with a prospective future business partner. If you want them to consider joining your opportunity, you have to be visible on the internet. You have to be willing to get personal and reveal yourself to them. Your site should be warm and inviting. It should provide information about you and your business opportunity. Give them a way to contact you. This really is the way to gain business partners from all over the world, or from just the good old U.S. if your company is not international. Think about what you were looking for when you were searching for a home business. I don't know about you, but I felt a connection with my sponsor. I felt as if I knew her just by looking at her website. That is what you want to create. You want to seem warm, friendly, and approachable. You want your reader to feel as if they already know you. A lady contacted me via email recently who was interested in my candle business. She practically told me her life story in that email, and it is probably because she felt like she knew me. She had seen my site and already knew all about me. That is a good thing. It means that she felt as if I was someone she could talk to candidly. She must have thought that I would be approachable and would be receptive to her. Not everybody who contacts you will be so open. They may be wary of you and your business, but they contacted you because they found something of interest. This is when you provide them with honest answers to all their questions. It is also where you give them that personal attention that they are seeking. Their state of mind when they contact you is not important. The fact that they made a connection is what matters. The reason for the connection was that they found your personal website and liked something they saw there. They were able to contact you because you provided them with either a phone number, email address, or both. Do you see how this works? Prospects come to you. You do not have to "beat the streets" or chase your friends and family in order to build your business. This is not yesterday's network marketing, it is the new way. Believe me, it is also the best way. Many of yesterday's methods gave us a bad rap because they were so annoying. Personal websites and business work well together. Get your own site up soon. It doesn't have to be fancy; just informative. Keep it simple and see what happens. I am sure that you will be pleased with the results. Remember to advertise your website and tell your friends about it. You cannot just build it and hope they will come.
How To Create A Website - Simple Tips To Help You Succeed
When it comes to building websites you need to understand what you fundamentally wish to achieve. This should be front and center. This way you stay focused on your overall goal which will help you stay on track when it comes to research. One thing a lot of people fail to remember when building a site is that you will need to effectively communicate with people. Sure you will be doing a lot of keyword research but behind those keywords are people who need something and you need to communicate with them. The mechanics of the site will be based upon the keywords you choose. This will determine the navigation and overall theme of your site. Getting this right is really important. This will also help you to achieve good rankings on the search engines. For effective keyword research you will need to visit multiple sites to determine how best you can position your new site. Everyone will tell you that you need low competition keywords with high volume searches - while this is sound advice it can be tuff to achieve but that does not mean that you should not do it. Where I change the game a little is by starting with the article directories and looking for keywords with articles that achieve high number of page views, this way I know I can write an article and get immediate quality traffic without having to wait for the search engines. This can bring you advertising revenue and sales. When it comes to building the site itself there are lots of site building software out there. The one I had the most success with starting out helped me to get into the search engines and took care of hosting and good link development along with a solid site structure.
